It is therefore proposed to construct
on the Sywan Hill & redoubt in which These will be mounted 2-6" B. L guns.
Guns will also command the landing places in the immediate vicinity and the road from Stauley; and will further be available to search out the apposite Chinese headland. If Sywan Hill be: not held it would be difficult to defend ete Lyemoon Pass in the face of

landing in the vicinity. A position should be selected for 2 or 3
